Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

PromptABCD is an MVP — an early, evolving product. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and how we use it. We may revise this policy at any time as the product changes.

1. Who we are

PromptABCD ("we", "us", "our") is an early-stage, work-in-progress product (an "MVP" — minimum viable product) that helps people save, organize, and reuse AI prompts. Because we're still actively building and changing the product, this Privacy Policy describes our current practices and may not cover every situation. We may update it as the product evolves.

2. Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (or a third-party login identifier if you sign in that way).

Content you create: prompts, projects, folders, tags, context blocks, workflows, notes, and any other content you type into the product. This content is provided by you, for your own use.

Usage data (web app only): basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, and how you interact with the web app (e.g. pages visited, features used), collected automatically to help us run and improve the service.

Cookies and local storage: we use browser local storage and/or cookies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. These are functional, not advertising, mechanisms.

2a. Chrome Browser Extension — detailed data disclosure

The PromptABCD Chrome extension ("the Extension") is subject to this Privacy Policy. Because extensions operate inside your browser and can interact with websites, we describe the Extension's data practices separately and in full below.

WHAT THE EXTENSION READS — AND WHEN. The Extension reads content from web pages only at the exact moment you perform an explicit save action: clicking the "Save to PromptABCD" hover button on a message, right-clicking selected text and choosing "Save to PromptABCD", or pressing the Ctrl+Shift+S keyboard shortcut. At that moment, the Extension reads only the text you selected or the message you clicked on. It does not scan, index, monitor, or read any other content on the page before or after that action.

NO AUTOMATIC OR BACKGROUND READING. The Extension never reads your conversations automatically. It does not run in the background capturing what you type, read, or view. There is no auto-capture feature. Content scripts (the code injected into AI websites) do nothing until you take a save action.

WHAT LEAVES YOUR BROWSER. Only the prompt or reply text you explicitly chose to save is transmitted to our servers, over an encrypted HTTPS connection, to be stored in your PromptABCD library. Your browsing history, conversation history, page URLs, and any content you did not deliberately save never leave your browser.

WHAT THE EXTENSION STORES LOCALLY. The Extension stores the following data in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage): (a) your authentication refresh token and user ID in persistent local storage, so you stay signed in between browser sessions; (b) your authentication access token in session storage, which is cleared when the browser restarts; (c) a temporary queue of prompt text you have chosen to save, used solely to retry saves that failed due to a network interruption. This queue is cleared as soon as each save succeeds. No browsing data, page content, or conversation history is stored locally.

AI SITE PERMISSIONS. The Extension can optionally be enabled to show Save buttons on Claude (claude.ai), ChatGPT (chatgpt.com), and Gemini (gemini.google.com). This is an optional feature requested during onboarding. You can grant or revoke this access at any time from Chrome's extension settings page (chrome://extensions). Without this permission, the Extension still works via right-click and keyboard shortcut on any site.

NO EXTENSION ANALYTICS OR TELEMETRY. The Chrome Extension collects no usage analytics, event tracking, telemetry, crash reports, or behavioral data. We derive aggregate product insights server-side from the authenticated API calls we already receive — no additional data collection occurs from within the Extension.

DATA TYPE UNDER CHROME POLICY. The prompt and reply content you save may constitute personal communications under Chrome Web Store policy. We treat it accordingly: it is collected solely to provide the save-and-reuse feature you requested, stored under your account, never used for advertising, never sold, and deletable by you at any time.

PERMISSIONS SUMMARY. The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions and uses them exclusively as described: activeTab (read selected text when you press the keyboard shortcut — granted only at the moment of your action); storage (store auth tokens and the offline save queue locally); contextMenus (add the right-click "Save to PromptABCD" menu item); sidePanel (display the prompt library side panel); scripting (inject content scripts into AI sites after you grant optional permission, and read selected text on keyboard shortcut); alarms (retry failed saves every 2 minutes); identity (power the optional "Sign in with Google" flow via secure OAuth).

3. How we use information

To provide, maintain, and improve the service — including letting you save, search, and retrieve your own content.

To communicate with you about your account, support requests, or important changes to the service.

To monitor for misuse, abuse, security issues, and to keep the platform functioning correctly.

To understand, in aggregate, how the product is used so we can prioritize what to build next.

4. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your prompt content to third parties for marketing or any other purpose. We are not in the business of monetizing your data, and we have no current plans to do so.

We may share information with service providers who help us operate the product (for example, hosting and database providers) solely so they can perform that function on our behalf, under standard confidentiality expectations. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our legal rights, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored with reputable third-party infrastructure providers. We take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information, but as with any online service, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the service with the understanding that no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

Because we are at an early, evolving stage of development, our security and data-handling practices may change as we add features, fix issues, or scale the product.

6. Your choices and control

You can access, edit, export, or delete your content directly within the product at any time.

You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us through the in-app Support Center. We will act on such requests within a reasonable time, subject to any data we are required to retain for legal, security, or legitimate operational reasons.

7. Children

PromptABCD is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

Because this product is in active, ongoing development, we may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For changes that materially affect what data we collect, how we use it, or who we share it with, we will notify active extension users via an in-panel banner the next time they open the PromptABCD side panel, and may also send an email notification to the address on your account. For minor or clarifying changes, we will update this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of PromptABCD after a material change is notified means you accept the updated policy.

9. No warranty regarding this policy

This Privacy Policy is provided for general informational purposes and reflects our current, good-faith practices as an early-stage product. It is not a guarantee of any specific outcome and does not create any rights beyond what is required by applicable law. This document is not a substitute for legal advice.
